Shubzilla and Steve return with reviews for Round 3 of Nerdcore Hip Hop's Vocalist/Producer Challenge. As stated in the previous post, the Nerdcore Hip Hop community on Facebook runs a nearly annual contest called the Vocalist Producer Challenge where they receive limitations and challenges and create songs together as teams of two (MC and Producer).
The third round centers around two key challenges. For the producers, it was important to integrate chiptunes and classic game sounds into the beat while including a classic game mechanic of arpeggio's in lieu of solid chords. For the vocalists, they were required to drop multi-syllabic rhymes across these chiptune influenced beats as well as include adlibs in their hype track. All of this matched to one of three videos offered to provide inspiration.
